My name is Ryan Wyckoff and I am a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic with the Hillside Fire Department. I also work part-time at Oakbrook Terrace FPD. Mike Kus is a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic with the Oakbrook Terrace FPD and now works part-time in River Grove. Together we decided to start this site to share our pictures from our departments, different apparatus, incidents, and firehouse pictures. We are still getting used to this so please bear with us.

Still & Box 4053 W. Gladys  02/02/08 : Arrive just after second companies.  Took the first shot as I was walking up.  Office Boxed this fire.  Fire on the 3rd floor of a 3 story vacant. Still Alarm & EMS Plan 1  Kedzie & Evergreen  01/10/08 : Got there just after the fire was knocked.  Both trucks taking their mains down.  One line on a single room fire on the 3rd floor.  An EMS plan was called by 454 after I left.  Total of 2 Yellow civilians transported.  Not much activity to see.  Squad 2 only running the snorkel.  Companies were:  E44,57, T36,35, SQ2, B12, A44.  RIT and 271 held up.

Still Alarm 1936 W. Washington : Fire in an apartment on the top floor of a 7 story CHA building.  E5 and T7 first in and took the front.  E103 and T19 second in and took the rear.  E103 deck gunned the darkened it down from the rear.  A line from E5 was advanced up the outside of the front of the building into the stairwell.  A quick knock was made and the SQ1 was held to go to yet another fire.  E5 was on a change to E26.  E26 missed the fire because they were at the shops changing rigs, but drove by on their way back.  Companies were:  E5, 103, T7, 19, B3, B4 RIT, T36 RIT, A33.

CFD Still Alarm  6152 N. Talman : I (Mike) live 2 blocks from this Still. I got there just as the companies were stretching lines. Fire was blowing out a bedroom window on the 3rd floor of a 3 flat. 2 lines were used, roof was opened and there was a lot of overhaul to do. I apologize for the blurry pics, it was a muggy night and the smoke from the fire was hanging at street level. Companies on the fire were: Engs 71 and 70 Trks 12 and 56, Bn 9, Sqd 2, 272, RIT was Trk 47 , Bn 10 and Amb 13.

Still & Box  820 N. Homan   05/02/07 : Arrived after all box companies were on the scene.  Boxed by Engine 44.  Heavy fire and roof came in.  3 handlines and the squad 1A working when I was there. Villa Park Hazmat Box  149 S. Monterey  04/30/07 : Originally dispatched as a Full Still for a chlorine leak.  Villa Park responded with Engine's 963 and 962.  Oakbrook Terrace ambulance called to scene for 2 patients exposed.  Hazmat Box requested by 963-A. I responded as a tech and took the entry sector and Mike, who was on the OBTR ambo and became part of entry team 1 that mitigated the incident.  One ton cylinder was being connected by public works at the water treatment plant when it started leaking.  All in all, ended up being a faulty hose connected to the cylinder.

Hillside Still Alarm  435 Forest   Oct. 2006 : Hillside Engine 405, Squad 408, and Amb. 400 cleared another call and responded to the reported fire.  Units arrived on scene with smoke showing and two people running out of house.  Box requested.  I responed initially on the OBTR engine for the change of quarters, then moved up to the scene because of Broadview being unavailable.  Fire knocked pretty quick and held to Hillside, Westchester, Berkeley.  We made it to the scene but not needed.

2-11 Alarm & EMS Plan 1   7014 N. Clark  04/23/07 : This fire is right around the corner from E102/T25.  T25 was on an ambo assist with E102 coming in as the ALS assist.  E102 passed the fire, supposed to be first in, but was told to continue on to the ambo run.  Bat. 9 first in with E59/T47.  Companies had a hard time gaining access to, and finding the fire in the basement.  Fire was also reported through the roof at one point.  Upgraded to a 2-11 and then a mayday was transmitted, but mayday soon struck when all personnel were accounted for.  High Expansion Foam Unit brought in from 26's house.  E102 supplied SQ 2A in the rear.  Co's that I saw were:  E59,70,56,110,102,83,71,26(with 631), T47,12,25,TL23,21, SQ2,272, and so on...

Bellwood 3-11,  537 25th,  1/17/07 : Bellwood oringinally responded for a car fire.  Engine 603 arrived on scene with 7 cars going inside a auto shop garage.  Still Alarm skipped and Box Alarm requested with others to follow.  Thanks to Chief Kuryla for the photos.

Still Alarm 1331 W. Taylor  01/17/07 : Just got there after the RIT and squad companies.  3 story grey stone, apartments over store.  Fire looks like it originated in the enclosed rear porches and extended into unknown floors.  Only got off these shots and my battery died. Hurricane Katrina 2005 : I was part of the second deployment for the Div 20 task force response to New Orleans.  We responded with no surpression equipment the second deployment because there were plenty already down there.  I was stationed at 3 different stations while there, working 24 on and 24 off.  These are just some of the pictures for now and I will add more later.

Still Alarm 1637 W. 21st : Was passing by Eng. 18's house when Bat. 4 and Eng. 18 were responding to the fire.  I got there about 5 minutes after the still companies.  Fire was on the 3rd and 4th floors, and Eng. 18 used there deck gun on both floors to darken it down initially.  Two extra trucks were called in because squad 1 was at the 2-11 on Kedzie.  This was a Eng 23, Tower 5 still but they were at the 2-11 also.  Companies here were Eng. 18, 28, Trucks, 8,4,7,2, Bat. 4,1, 271, and 213 showed up also.

Elmhurst Box Alarm 4/17/06 : Responded to this fire as the Box Truck. Initial general alarm companies reported on the scene with smoke showing.  Crews tried numerous attempts to gain entry and make an offensive attack.  The entire house was packed with junk, which made it impossible to enter more than a few feet.  The basement was completely filled with boxes and papers.  Box Alarm called and companies went in defensive mode.  Cellar nozzle used in front entrance way.  Elmhurst command brought in a backhoe to completely open up the house.  In all, 6 handlines and a cellar nozzle used.  Companies that responded (in order): ELMH Engines 1,2,4 Trucks, 1,2, Medics 1,2, C6,C1,C2, HLSD Engine 402, YRKC Eng. 75(RIT), OBTR Tower 306, LOMB Eng. 45, VLPK Eng. 963, OKBK Tower 929, HLSD Chief 411, OBTR Chief 309, VLPK Chief 952. Berkeley Box Alarm  2004? : Early morning house fire in Berkeley in, I think, 2004.  Responded as the Still Tower Ladder for the reported fire.  Arrived just behind Berkeley's first in engine(they are all POC department).  Fire located in rear laundry/furnace room and extended into the attic.
